Battle for North Walsham 2020 – School Workshops Completed

I was incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and eagerness the children showed about getting involved with all the family activities soon to be happening in North Walsham.  After an afternoon with ‘Geoffrey Lister’ and exploring the artefacts he displayed it was wonderful to see their reactions.  They were really excited to learn that such an important event happened right on their doorstep!  They went home brandishing their flyers and have since come into school asking when they can see the battle.  Several parents reported that they had to conduct research on the Peasants Revolt under the strict instructions of their children!  As a school we are definitely looking forward to forging close links with this fabulous event both as an educational experience and as something fun for the children to share with their families.

Really great to have expertise in the class for the children to be able to ask their historical questions.  Stimulated lots of discussion on historical bias.  The children were excited to learn about the competition for the shield design and most were not previously aware of the medieval event that took place locally. Looking forward to seeing this becoming an annual event in North Walsham.
